On a double opt-in list, each new signup gets an email asking them to confirm. Its subject is "Please confirm your subscription to" followed by your list's name, and it comes from your workspace's sender address. Until the person clicks the button in it, they stay pending and don't receive campaigns.

Ask them to look in Spam and Promotions

Confirmation emails arrive seconds after signing up, from a sender the person may not know yet. Ask them to search their mailbox for the subject above, including Spam, Junk and Gmail's Promotions tab.

Make sure your workspace can send

Confirmation emails are sent like any other email from your workspace. They aren't sent while:

  • your account has reached its monthly email allowance (see Billing & Plans), or
  • the workspace's sending is paused (your dashboard shows a notice).

Send from your own domain

Confirmation emails from your own verified sending domain are far more likely to reach the inbox than ones from a shared address. See Setting up a sending domain and My emails are going to spam or junk.

The person has already confirmed, or a newer confirmation email replaced this one. Ask them to use the most recent email. If they're unsure, check their status on the list.

Sending the confirmation again

You can send the confirmation again to people who are still pending. See Sending confirmations to pending members.
